Today is #NationalNewYorkDay and well, being a native New Yorker, I just had to write a little homage to say what a great place it is to grow up.

What I love most about New York is that there are so many wonderful ways you can take a mini vacation when you need it. You can travel 40 minutes out of the city and be in the Adirondack Mountains, or you can travel a few hours and be in Vermont, Washington DC or Boston. How cool is that?
How can you celebrate #NationalNewYorkDay? Well, there are a few ways:
-Create a bagel lox sandwich or a Corned Beef Reuben.
-Take out some Sinatra and play some of his tunes, including "New York, New York".
-Check out a Broadway play that might be in your town.
-Rent a video from Amazon Prime - Fame, American Gangster, West Side Story, 42nd Street, An Affair to Remember, Big...
-Pick up some new fashion digs, go to H&M or to Forever 21 where you can find the most trendy items for less and put on a new outfit and meet your friends for a Cosmo at a swanky restaurant.
Whatever you decide to do, do it with style and flair and enjoy!

In my early days when I rented a couple of my apartments in Brooklyn, I didn't have a bathtub in the studio apartment. It only had a shower stall and the bathrooms were super tiny.
Then I moved into a one bedroom in Bath Beach and I actually had a tub again. I had missed out on using the bathtub which I desperately needed with all of the aches and pains from my injuries from the car accidents and fall into the sinkhole and a shower never quite helped me the way soaking in some Epsom salts in a bathtub would.
Are you a fan of taking baths? If not, why not? I know some people have never stepped into a bathtub, yet, I am still baffled by this. Why wouldn't you want to soak the stress of the day away?
One of the things I love to do is to add fragrance oils as well as salts and bubbles to make this oasis concoction and help me unwind and de-stress.

Be sure when you pop out of your shower or bath that you moisturize your skin immediately -- this will lock in and seal the moisture into your skin.
This is something my mom taught me when I was 11 and have done it every day of my life since.
Well, I hope you'll change your mind if you've never taken baths before and join us millions who do. And, for those of you already taking luxurious baths, please continue and enjoy the rest and relaxation it provides.

This episode is a little bit of a rant and rave! I walked into a Dollar Tree store a few days ago and saw that they were starting to hang up Christmas Decorations and I immediately became a bit perturbed.
Do you think they're starting a bit too early to begin the holiday season? I'd love to know what you think.
But, on the other hand, since its up an ready, maybe we can begin our shopping a little bit earlier this year so that we can actually enjoy the holiday season this year.
I just got my beau his gift so, I'm good to go, lol.

Today is National Tequila Day. Tequila is one of my favorite drinks. The first time I ever had it was in Mexico back in 1983. Have you ever seen the worm at the bottle of Tequila? It freaked me out the first time I saw one. Couldn't believe that people actually drank it.
Tequila is made from the blue agave plant which is harvested by hand. It's stripped down and ground up in a stone bowl and then the extract is collected and distilled. One of my favorite brands is Herradura Tequila it's smooth and best when chilled.
How can you celebrate Tequila Day? Well, if you have a Bahama Breeze restaurant near you, they're offering $5 Margaritas 7/24 - 7/26. Better yet, pick up Or, pick up a nice bottle of tequila (see above link) and make them at home with some fresh squeezed lime juice and simple sugar, blend with ice and viola - you're Margarita. You can also add fruit of your choice. I just love a Strawberry Margarita. Be sure to call over some friends, and have them bring the Guacamole, chips and Salsa dip, put on some Mexican tunes and get in the groove.
You could also go for a tequila tasting. Check out your local libation stores to see if anyone is running one.
Have fun, share some of your Margarita or Tequila drinks and remember to always drink responsibly.
When the pressure is on, it's easy for us to crack under it. Are you able to remain calm and poised or do you fly off the handle like a madman when things are getting out of whack?
I used to be the second one above many, many years ago and then I quickly learned that it wasn't going to do my health any good so I learned how to adjust and become more peaceful when handling stress.
It's never easy when we're faced with challenging moments. Our fight or flight response will always kick into high gear leaving us frazzled and exhausted.
Today's quick episode contains a podcast I did about this topic, then I actually had a challenging moment, and I recorded another message while I was in the thick of it.
Remember when you're in that stress zone to stay as calm as possible and remember "this too shall pass".

April is National Home Decorating month which is one of my favorite pastimes. Is your home in need of some sprucing up? If so, now's the time to do it.

There are plenty of Spring home furnishing sales going on right now so if you're looking for a new set of sheets or bedding which will make your bedroom look totally different or if you're looking for new living room furniture, the sales are bountiful, so take advantage to find what find what you're looking for to make your home feel new and vibrant.
Decorating your home doesn't have to cost you a lot of money. Just adding a few small touches can do a lot. If you love the scent of candles, pick up a couple of inexpensive ones at your local Walmart, Big Lots or Home Goods store. You'll be glad you did. There's nothing like making your home cozy and inviting.

Most of us today have a home office today, they're not only for the wealthy or for those who work from home. Some have home offices so that there's a place to write out the monthly bills or just have time alone to read a book.
Today is #National Organize Your Home Day. So, I want to give you a few tips on how you can quickly organize your home office so that you can revel and enjoy the space.
If it's full of clutter, the first thing I want you to do is turn on some music that will pump you up, grab a large trash bag and toss out the following items:
Next step is to clear off your desk, even if it means you need to make piles and put them on the floor until you find a home for them. I want you to be able to work on that desk. Do you have a calendar for 2018? Is it on your desk? If not, where is it? Pull it out and place it on your desk.
Have you created a vision board for 2018? If not, start one today. Pull some images out of a magazine that you can relate to. For instance, if you're looking for a new love, pull out some images of a man and woman having fun, looking deeply into each others eyes where you can see they're in love. Or, if you're looking for a new wardrobe, pull out images of the clothes you'd like to wear, etc. Do this for each aspect of your life and be sure it's around where you can look a it every day.
Did you buy a calendar for 2018? Have you opened it up yet? Or, is still in the plastic shrink-wrap sitting somewhere in your office? Get it out, add the important dates into it i.e., birthdays, anniversaries etc.
Pick up a potted plant at your local supermarket or fresh cut flowers to really make your home office look and smell beautiful.

How to Survive an Extended Stay in a Hospital
It was three days after Christmas, December 28, 2017. I was just about to go to bed and I fell violently ill. I started having severe pain in my abdomen and even though I had vomited, I was still in some serious pain. I was also having trouble breathing and nothing was subsiding and I knew I was in trouble.
My boyfriend had gone home to sleep at his apartment that evening. Fortunately, we live in the same complex, but didn't want to wake him until he was up for work, which is unusually early, 4:30 AM. I phoned him at 5:00 AM and told him how badly I felt and asked him if he would drive me to the emergency room. Thankfully the hospital was a close ride from home. I knew I wasn't going to get better until I went to the emergency room at the hospital to find out what was wrong with me.
I was so grateful that the emergency room was empty and I was seen very quickly. They sent me in for a Cat Scan of my stomach and found I had Gallbladder, Gallstones and Pancreatitis. They immediately checked me into the hospital. My boyfriend Jesse was so scared. I felt so bad for him.
The hospital I was checked into is only a couple of years old and beautifully done. I had my own room and the staff was such a blessing. They were ever so pleasant and really helped me out. This made for a much nicer stay than I feared.
The first thing I asked Jesse to bring me from my home were the following items (you might want to keep an emergency list in case you ever need to, I pray you never do, but, life is so unpredictable):
- iPad and charger
-Mini laptop bag including charger and mouse
-Message recorder (in case I had the urge to do a podcast-- which was how I thought of this episode)
-Cell phone charger
-My makeup face charts, sketch pad and colored pencils with sharpener
-All chargers for my electronics, cell phone, etc.
-Flip flops, nail file and clipper, hair brush, several pair of underwear, deodorant, shampoo and conditioner, hair brush and comb and skin moisturizer and a pair of tweezers
-A few copies of the latest fashion magazines and books I was in the process of reading.
I had a feeling I would be detained for a while and didn't know exactly for how long so I wanted to be prepared.
I was only allowed to eat ice chips for the first 72 hours. They couldn't operate on my gallbladder at this time because of the severe case of pancreatitis that I had. After the fifth day, they had to transfer me to a different hospital. This one had a pancreas specialist who specialized in pancreas surgery. They weren't sure if they'd have to operate on my pancreas or not. I wasn't thrilled about this move as I knew that the hospital they were transferring me to was not as new, clean or nice as the one I was currently in.
Sure enough, when I got to my room at the other hospital, there was a woman putting sheets on my bed and I noticed two holes in the sheet and asked her for another set. Then I took a look at the old and dingy bathroom and saw in the corner on the floor there was this dirt and asked her to have someone in to clean it. I was very afraid of getting Mercer as I knew a neighbor woman who lived downstairs from me, she went into the hospital for one thing and died because of contracting Mercer.
Another thing I did, was each time they took me out of my room, I made sure I put on a mask to cover to my mouth (ask the nurses for these). This can help you out tremendously from picking up any other germs visitors or patients may have while they wheel you around the halls for testing, etc.
